First, they came for....

(In the not so distant future.... in the USA...)

First, they police came for the liberals.
Then, they came for the Canadians.
Next, the police took away the poor and disadvantaged.
After that, they came and took away the middle class.
Finally, the US had what it wanted: a class of citizens ready to let the government do what it wanted.

I worry that the people of the US will not ask Congress to build in 'strong checks and balances' in the power of the Legislative Branch of the Government. I know that the politicians are running scared of all the evils in the world. In an effort to protect its own citizenry, the government is taking away many of their rights and liberties. Remember - if one is willing to give away a little liberty in order to secure a little more security, one deserves neither.

I hope the voters in the mid-term elections demand accountability in government. If GW can do a better job of protecting the country, then ask him to show results. If GW cannot, then the voters should put in people into Congress who can ensure they will advise GW on how to make the republic safer. No more bickering. No more cat fights. No more posturing. Just fix the damn security problems and then, let's move on. 

Secure the country. Secure the borders. But, for heaven's sake - stop trampling on the people in the process.
