The US government had better start looking at how its own citizens resort to violence in order to further their group's political, religious, and racial aims. A judge at the centre of a trial in Chicago came home to find her husband and mother executed. At present, Judge Lefkow is being protected by federal authorities. (Read NY Times.)
Either the U.S. Congress does more to limit the growth of hate groups in the country or the world should expect to witness more violent crimes. For the life of me, I cannot understand how the US Congress can allow hate groups to operate so openly and freely. I don't think the writers of the Constitution had 'in mind' future hate groups who would use the 'right to free speech' to advocate hatred among the races. If the US Congress has the wisdom, it should address any deficiencies in the consitution and quickly.
I would hate to see the entire USA tear itself in another civil war. This time the civil war will not be the North vs. the South but an entirely different war pitting many groups against each other. Here's how I see the line-up of potential adversaries:
Rich vs. Poor
Educated vs. Uneducated
Haves vs. Have nots
Employed vs. Unemployed
White vs. Non-whites
Christians vs. Non-Christians
Westerners vs. Non-westerners
Americans vs. Non-Americans
Gays vs. Non-gays
Conservatives vs. Liberals
Should a civil war erupt in the USA in my lifetime, I shudder to think how many different countries will come out of a Divided States of America. My guess that the USA will become, at the very least, 20+ nation states. And for those states smart enough, they will allow themselves to be annexed by Canuckland.
