Sarah Palin - took herself out of the race even before it began.

Newt - I think he screwed up so badly with his initial endorsement of Palin that he should be disqualified to ever again hold public office.

Bobby from Louisiana - nope, he screwed up with his response to President Obama televised to the entire world. Stick with fixing the aftermatch of Katrina and you might have a chance in 2016 or 2020.

Sanford - well, he royally screwed the pooch with his on-air admission of his love affair. Not going to rebound in time for 2012.

Rush - huh? Is he still alive?

Rudi G - nope. His marriage to his cousin knocked him out with the social conservatives.

Huckabee - well, if Chuck Norris has his way, Huck might be the nominee.

China: How Much Risk Are You Willing to Accept?

As the world continues to face huge hardships in economic growth, many companies are looking toward China as the 'promised land' for future global demand. My simple question to all capitalists is this: how much risk are you willing to bear?

The Chinese government can, at anytime, seize your assets and call it even. Why would the CCP do this? Why not? Who is going to stop them? Think about how China was closed off the West for so long. And think again about how China could do it again? Perhaps, the 5-year plan for the government is to suck in as much capital and natural resources over the next five years and then, BOOM. The great wall goes back up and all foreigners are locked out again.

I, for one, would not be willing to risk one dollar of capital in China. There are so many growth opportunities in the world and I would rather put capital to work elsewhere. In my opinion, China will be ready in about 25 years.

I hate to pop the bubble of fantasy thinking but I it is time for Western capitalists to wake up and understand what is truly happening in Asia.

First, I don't really care if she had an affair with her husband's business partner or not. What I do care about is how she can promote family values out of one side of her mouth and spew garbage out of other parts.

My advice to the GOP faithful:
1) Don't be so desparate to retain political faithful and sign away your respect with a deal with the devil.
2) Don't support 'Sex-Abstinence before Marriage' as a social policy and then, stay silent when unwed women get pregnant. Please don't sign the deal with the devil in order to please the bigger good.
3) Don't hand the reins of power to a neophyte. Look at what happened throughout history when a weaker people held the highest power in the land. War. Mass death marches. Racial extermination. Please do not sign the deal with the devil in order to hold onto power.

Phone the McCain campaign HQs in your state and tell the campaign staff that you want McCain to run a clean and honorable campaign. Also, yell at them that you will not sell your vote to the devil in order to please McCain.

Which is bigger sin: Bigotry or Sexism?

Should Obama win in November, many will shout out 'sexism' kept McCain from winning. And should McCain win in November, otherw will shout out 'bigotry' kept Obama from winning.

I don't think Canada should continue to depend on the US for so much of its annual exports. Canada needs to find new markets for the country's goods and services.

Mankind: Creationism vs Intelligent Design

What? What is all the fuss about? If mankind did not descend from apes, then I wonder how we got here? Did we not evolve over the last 15,000 years? If mankind today was mankind 10,000 years ago, why didn't they have television so long ago? Why didn't Early Man have comic books? Or why didn't Early Man not have the Internet? Do you know why? Because Early Man was born without the ability to solve those problems.

The idea of Intelligent Design is just someone's way of getting everyone to choose sides: either you're a Christian or you are not. And if you don't believe in Intelligent Design, you are not a Christian. Well, I am a Christian and I do not believe in Intelligent Design. Why?

I believe that God put mankind on the planet with the aim of seeing how far we would grow/evolve during our existence on planet Earth. If God gave us all the abilities we have today - 15,000 years ago - mankind would've killed itself by now. In God's infinite wisdom of not granting us all the brainpower to blow up the world 5,000 years ago was His smartest decision. Perhap's in His mind, mankind needed to grow up and understand the responsilibity of learning.

Guess Pat Robertson is in a bit of hot water with his latest comments regarding the assassination of Hugo Chavez down in Venezuela. It's not the first time a relgious leader has advocated in world history. So, why is everyone upset with his comments? Gee, if Pat Robertson was indeed an influential political player in DC and had the "ear" of Karl Rove or GW, then I might be a little worried. However, Robertson does not determine US Foreign Policy nor does he dictate how the DCI wages covert 'wet ops' around the world.

Pat Robertson is entitled to his own opinion. Remember 'his opinions' are just that - "his opinions". Robertson may be a little unhinged right now but, what the hell - there are millions more out there in the real world who are much worse.

I don't really think Robertson needs to have his wrist slapped by GW or by Karl "I'm in Charge Now" Rove.

New Christian Crusades Begin

After watching the news coverage of the bombings in London, one cannot help but wonder: Will the actions of some Muslim extremists force the West to relaunch "The Christian Crusades"? If the West does so, how much more bloody will the next decade be? With the West able to wage much longer and bloodier wars, will Christians finally dominate the globe? If so, what will the 22nd Century look like?

No matter what happens in the next few months, you can bet your last dollar that the 'extreme right wing of the GOP' are gathering their political and military strategists in some corner in D.C. Their goal: Plan for the eventual war between 'Christians' and 'Muslims'. There will be no safe place on the planet. This is one war that no one can stand on the sidelines and waive a 'flag of neutrality'. I guess this means we are one step closer to World War III. Heaven help us all - because no one else will.

Court takes custody of girl whose parents refuse to allow her cancer treatment. How does the Texas GOP feel about the courts removing a child from a home of her loving parents? Memo to Self: What is the essence of mankind?

Is this real? The very idea of cloning human embryos for experimentation may be man's greatest achievement and yet, its downfall. Although I consider myself to be very religious, I am not sure where I stand on the issue of human cloning. Should human cloning be done in order to understand the nature of disease and thus, prevent it? Yes. Should mankind try to make the perfect (healthy) human? Yes. Should mankind be allowed to produce spare humans in order to harvest their organs? I really don't know. Should mankind be allowed to reproduce lost loved ones in order to help a grieving family? Again, I don't know.  But, let me state this right now - if I ever lost a family member prematurely, I would pay a gazillion bucks to bring them back. Call me selfish but ....

I cannot believe that the Roman Catholic Church is going to refuse services to gays or those who support the rights of gays. Is the RCC so out-of-touch-with-reality? I'd expect something to see something like this back in the 1500s or 1600s. But in the 21st Century? Not in my lifetime.

So, what gives? Why is the RCC so 'out-of-touch-with-reality'? For the life of me, I do not know.

When I first read a few blogs about some church wack-job throwing out church members because they refused to support President GW Bush, I thought it was a joke. Well, the joke is on me: Church Pastor Chan Chandler decides to become newest right wing extremist. 

Do you think companies will do the same? Instead of Human Resource Departments in corporations, the right wing extremists will demand that 'God-loving' CEOs will replace the HR functions with a new department: Religious Indoctrination. Let's look at a set of sample interview questions from the Spirtual Leader of the Religious Indoctrination Department.

Questions
(1) Do you believe in God?
(2) How often do you pray?
(3) Do you believe in abortion?
(4) Do you believe that a woman's place is in the kitchen, naked on bed, and ready to serve her 'husband and master'?
(5) Do you believe that young girls at the age of 15 should get married to men twice to three times their age?
(6) Do you donate at least 60% of your salary to the church?
(7) Do you practice any weird sexual practices like (a) your wife is on top?, (b) your wife can actually enjoy the 'act of making babies'?, or (c) your wife can drink champagne while in the 'act of making babies'?
(8) Do you have at least 5 wives with which to create your own church group?

Answer the questions correctly and get a new job. Answer them wrongly and get sent to fifty years of hard labour in a maximum security prison.

Microsoft Gets Religion

I don't really care one way or the other whether Microsoft wants to draw a line in the "fight for religion" but I do mind if the company is doing it to further its agenda with the religious right. It is sad, very sad that Microsoft has succumbed to the pressures of the Christian Coalition in order to save its own 'financial butt'.

Now, if Bill Gates is behind this move, 'Boo' on him. If someone else is responsible then, 'Double Boo' on him or her.

GOP: Justice Sunday - The Strategy

No matter how much I detest that the GOP has jumped into bed with the Christian Coalition, you have got to hand it to Frist et al. Their political strategy is first-rate. The 2008 elections will be nothing more than a referendum on 'religion' and 'the moral direction of the Republic'. The 2008 elections will not be about (1) Iraq, (2) the Middle East, (3) the economy, (4) the decline in the quality of education, (5) the failure of Medicare, (6) the loss of respect of the US on the global stage, (7) the tanking dollar, (8) hate crimes within the Republic, (9) illegal immigration, (10) the Minuteman Militia, (11) Tom DeLay, (12) racisim, and much, much more.

The GOP (extreme right wing of the party) wants the US to become forever more a country of rich white people and poor groups of minorities. A country where females are married off to complete strangers at the age of 14 and men can take on multiple wives. Imagine: a new Republic with orgies of one husband with 20 wives living under the same roof. That is what Frist et al have in mind for the Republic.

It is sad to think of what is going to happen to the USA. No matter how much the Democrats want to change the direction of the country, it won't happen. As long as the Dems fight amongst themselves, the country will continue to be under the thumb of DeLay and Frist and their ilk.

Remember folks: the GOP are only using 'religion' as a smokescreen. They plan on using this 'topic' to rob citizens of their basic civil rights. The loss of freedom and thought. Welcome to the New World Order: Frist's USA. Heaven help us all.

As for GW, deep down, he is allowing Frist to take the party as far to the right as possible and at the last possible moment, GW will carpet from under Frist's feet and launch Dr. Rice to carry the USA in 2008 and beyond. And right beside Dr. Rice will be Jeb Bush.

Priest Raping Young Girls in Act of God

If you can believe that title, you should join a very radical church in Kyoto. The church is called "Seishin Chuo Kyokai church" and its priest is now being accused of raping young girls. When asked by his parishioners why they were being 'forced to engage in sex', the high priest told them to 'shut up'. Guess the young girls did not need to know why the priest was raping them at the time. Now, how long did this go on? Many years.

Oh, the name of the supposed-priest is "Tamotsu Kin". (Don't forget his name.)

When asked by some of his victims why he raped them, he told them to 'Go to Hell'. Now, where does it say in the teachings of religion that a priest can tell members of his flock to 'go to hell'??? I guess I missed that sermon one Sunday morning.

The New Republic: United Churches of America

The year is 2015 A.D. The place is the former USA. The new name is the United Churches of America.

If the US Congress gives in to the growing pressure felt from the extreme right wing of the GOP, I fear the worst for the USA. As the Christian Coalition marches to Washington DC to collect on their political chits, the GOP must deliver on their election promises. There is no stopping the CC and the GOP. The only way the USA can survive is to make some big choices in 2006: Stay the current course or throw out the GOP.

The choices made in the 2006 elections and the 2008 presidential election are key to the survival of the republic. Let the CC take over the nation or continue with the belief of separation of 'church and state'.

Danger Zone: The Rise of the Fundamental Right

First my disclaimer: I am a Christian. Sorry. I had to get it out there right away.

I am very worried that the extreme right wing of the GOP are using Terri as their new 'rallying cry' to their supporters. By clinging to the very notion that God will somehow come and rescue her will show how strong their faith is in God. The right (aka "the extreme right wing") want to move the republic as far to the right under GW's control of the White House. With GW in the Oval Office and the GOP controlling both the House and Senate, the right wing believe they can create a 'New Religious America'. Frightening as it is, the possibility that it might happen is quite real.

With each passing day, ambitious Republicans and Presidential-hopefuls (Jeb, Bill, Tom, etc.) they know that the support of the right will help them get into the White House. As long as Karl Rove is kicking around DC, Rove will demand that the religious right have a 'seat at the table of political power'. So goes the White House, so goes the country. Yes, it is that simple.

I believe the issue of Terri's life is one of 'quality of life' and nothing else. I hate the thought that we, as a society, are going to let her perish but, without some miracle in medical science, there is no chance of any type of recovery for Terri.

Perhaps, if the US government would divert 50% of the defense spending on medical research and give up the idea of dropping bombs on everyone, people like Terri might have a hope of full recovery. But, since the US is so determined on spending so much on their military, medical research will be starved for funding.

I would like to see GW shave 25% of his military budget for the year and give it to medical research so that the country never has to let people die as in the case of Terri. C'mon GW (& Brother Jeb), this is your chance to show the American voter that you DO care about the lives of each and every living and breathing Yankee. Give up your ambition of controlling the world.

The world may never be a perfect place but at least we know it has survived for the past 4 billion years without too much interference from mankind (oops, that includes woman, too!) - [Note: Unfortunately, men have been the main causes of death, destruction and most things gone bad - "wars".]

So, I honestly believe God is ready to welcome Terri into his arms and comfort her. Please let us never forget that He is there to help everyone. It's time that Terri's parents let her go.

Double Shame on Frist & DeLay

Undoubtedly, God is going to strike down both Bill Frist and Tom DeLay for their hypocrisy and attempts to hijack the ongoing situation with Terri for their own personal and political gains. I'm sure DeLay's motivation has more to do with saving his political behind than it is to keep Terri from dying. Shame on DeLay. Double shame on him.  As for Bill Frist, the doctor in the Senate, how can he play with the emotions of the republic. As a leader in the Senate, Frist must show strength and convictions on taking the country into the future and not go backwards.

First they tried to circumvent the Florida courts; now they're trying to pack the federal bench with conservatives and even blow up the filibuster rule. The GOP (extreme right wing of the party) have laid down their platform for 2008: "Religion will save the country. Accept the GOP as your saviour or burn in hell." Nice slogan, don't ya think?

Don't get me wrong, I am a very religious person but, I am somewhat disgusted by how the GOP (oops, I mean the extreme right wing of the party) has thrown religion into the faces of the masses.

I do not believe it is my place in the world to 'convert' others. Nor do I believe I should beat the shit out of the weak in order to 'save them'. Think of how many people are forced to take up religion in order to be saved by the USA. I don't like the idea of any government telling people how to think or behave.

I would hope that those people who call themselves "Christians" would understand the teachings of Jesus Christ. No where in his teachings does He state that it is the role of those who believe in God to MAKE those that do not believe in Him to believe in Him. (You understand, right?)  Nor does Jesus Christ teach us to make others suffer in order to make ourselves feel good about ourselves. (Think of what is happening in Florida right now.) Wouldn't it be better to allow Terri to pass away so that she can be in heaven and in the arms of Jesus Christ? I'm sure that Jesus Christ would ask Terri one question: "What took you so long?"

Also, what the heck is going on in Washington DC? Congress cannot legislate religion. I have heard so often that Congress does not like it when the judicial branches of the government (state and federal) legislate from the bench. What about Congress legislating religion? Shouldn't Congress let people choose how they wish to worship? And what they wish to worship?

Do you think the 2008 Elections will only be about 'religion'? Don't worry about the growing twin deficits! Don't worry about the declining standards in education. Don't worry about the ongoing struggles in Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. Don't worry about all the murders, rapes, child molestation, and cooking of the books on Wall Street. The best way any political strategist can cause voters to not think about all the problems of the country is to make the 2008 election about 'religion'.

US House of Representatives: Cowards

I cannot believe that elected politicians would pass legislation to keep someone alive against the wishes of the patient and her guardian. If government can disregard the wishes of a single person, who's to say that the same legislative body would not pass legislation to force women to have babies? What about passing legislation preventing blacks from marrying whites? How about from uneducated women from having babies?

The House should take a step back and look at what they are doing.

Terri's parents should let their daughter die in peace. It's time to let go and let Terri be with the Lord.

Karl Rove lobs first political brick

Why "brick"? Well, there exists a glass wall separating the religious (conservative right) wing of the GOP and the rest of the country.

The RR want to remake the republic into a more religious and less tolerant society. As such, the 2004 election gains made by the GOP will force the nation into confronting its morst explosive issue to hit Washington, DC in decades: yanking the country from secularism to religious 'read - Christian' fundamentalism. 

Now, don't get me wrong here, I would like to see religion (any religion) play a bigger part of any society. However, where I disagree is where some small group of religious leaders demand that society en masse accept their views of life. Nowhere in a mature and civilized world should anyone be forced to accept another person's religion.

Karl Rove has lobbed the first ball in the upcoming political match: A gay-ban amendment. I sure hope the GOP know what they are doing. By forcing the issue of a gay-ban amendment, the GOP is telling the country to less tolerant and unaccepting of others who do not 'live' the Christian way. I do not buy into the 'slippery slope' argument that gay marriages will lead to the destruction of society. (Read NY Times for news on Karl Rove's recent comments on gay marriage.) Here is a short excerpt from the article:

``If we want to have a hopeful and decent society, we ought to aim for the ideal, and the ideal is that marriage ought to be, and should be, a union of a man and a woman,'' Bush political aide Karl Rove told ``Fox News Sunday.''

The next four years of leadership under Karl Rove, I'm sorry - I mean GW Bush, is going to create more divisions within the republic than at anytime in America's history. I sure hope the country will survive.

Until I read Dan Brown's recent novel, Da Vinci Code, I did not make any connection between Mary Magdalene and the Holy Grail. Brown's novel is definitely an interesting read. I must spend more time reading and less time watching the 'idiot box' in my spare time.

Jamis on The Passion of the Christ

I will have to wait until they release the film in Japan. There has been no word on when that will be. I am unsure how I will react when I watch the film. I don't know if I will want to see the film at the theatre or just rent it and watch it at home in privacy.
